OUR STORY

We have been working together since Jon’s second feature back in 2006.  We made it for a song, won some awards, realized we got along swimmingly, and, some years later, decided to form a partnership. Over the next nearly two decades, we worked on countless projects, both separate and together. From national spots to high end industrials, short films and docs, we’ve tussled with just about every form of moviemaking the industry could chuck at us.

Where we saw a gap was in high-end product work. It wasn’t really being done locally.  In fact, only a handful of Director/DPs were doing it nationally - and none were making a serious attempt to tackle both lifestyle and tabletop. Typically, if a spot requires both, as often it does, it’d be treated as two seperate shoots. Two separate directors would be sourced. Perhaps even two separate production companies. It’s inefficient and expensive. And it’s a problem we wanted to fix.

We started examining the best product spots we could find. We deconstructed and reverse engineered more than a few. We built out a studio so we could play without restraint, and we filled it with motion control rigs, a pricey high-speed camera, and a bunch of fancy lights.

Some of these shots take a long time to get right, maybe a hundred takes, with a good bit of clean-up in between. We learned as much about patience as we did about technique. We’re still learning, of course, but this is how Drool Visuals was born - out of necessity, and a genuine love for playing in a mad scientist’s lab.

We enjoy working directly with clients and are happy to hop on projects during any step of the creative process. Take a gander, and if you like what you see, give us a shout. We’re excited to work with you!
